Research areas: 20th century and contemporary poetry, film studies, science fiction, gender studies, Scandinavian literature, and translation

Meagen Youngdahl is a PhD student in Literature and Creative Writing. She holds a BA in English and Film Studies from UC Berkeley and is a graduate of the UC Davis MA program in creative writing. She recently received funding from the Estonian Ministry of Education to complete coursework and research on Juri Lotman's semiotic theory of culture at the University of Tartu. She is working on a critical-creative manuscript, Animal Knowledge, that explores nonhuman intelligence using the biosemiotic perspective.
